How do I register NannyPay?
Ordering and registering NannyPay is a four step process:
- Step 1: Purchase NannyPay;
- Step 2: Click on "Register NannyPay" under the Help Menu or on the Expiration Screen, and you will be presented with a small dialog box;
- Step 3: Copy your registration key (included in your Kagi invoice) by pasting it into the appropriate place in the dialog box.
- Step 4: Click the "Register" button.
Your NannyPay subscription is now registered and will expire one year from the date of purchase. For more details see Ordering and Registering NannyPay.

How do I navigate to NannyPay's other screens?
There are three main screens in the NannyPay application: (1) the Payroll Check Screen; (2) the Set Up Screen; and (3) the Payroll Register Screen. Each has a specific purpose. The Payroll Check Screen is the main screen where you enter pay check specific information such as hours worked or special deductions; calculate net pay; and print pay stubs. The Set Up Screen is where you enter employer and employee federal and state tax settings. The Payroll Register Screen is where you can view all your payroll transactions in one convenient place and perform specific actions such as deleting transactions or printing pay stubs.
Navigation between screens can be done by clicking the appropriate icons on the toolbar.

You can also move between screens by clicking the appropriate item in the "Window" menu or by using the keyboard shortcuts displayed there.

How do I view previous transactions?
There are several ways to view previous payroll transactions. The most convenient way is to browse them in the Payroll Check Screen. You can do this by clicking the scroll bar on the right edge of the pay check image, or by clicking on the navigation arrows located on the tool bar:

How do I determine the gross amount to pay my employee when she knows how much net pay she wants to earn?
If you know how much your employee wants to net each pay period and you want to determine the amount of gross you need to pay her, click on the inverted dollar sign on the tool bar. NannyPay will automatically take you to the Gross Pay Calculator. Enter the desired amount of net pay in the space provided and click "Calculate". The result will tell you how much in gross earnings you need to pay your employee to obtain the desired net pay.

How do I calculate withholding?
First, navigate to the Payroll Check Screen and make sure the payroll check image is blank (with the exception of the employer's and employee's names). If it is not blank, click the "New" button at the lower right.
If you are paying your household employee an hourly wage:
- In the top right-hand part of the screen, enter the number of hours and overtime (OT) hours, if any, your employee has worked;
- Below the OT Hours box, enter the pay period ending date; the check number, if appropriate, and the check date, or date paid (if you are paying by cash);
- Specify whether you are paying cash or check by clicking one of the "radio buttons";
- Click on the lower drop-down box and specify the type of payment you are making. This setting defaults to "Regular Pay." To learn more about the other transaction types, see NannyPay Transaction Types and Automatic Advance Tracking Features ;
- Enter any adjustments to your household employee's gross or net pay. If you entered an automatic adjustment in the Set Up Screen, it will appear here. If you wish to override it, simply enter another amount. To enter a deduction, use a negative number; to enter a payment, use a positive number; and
- Finally, click the "Calculate" button, and your done.
If you are paying your household employee a salary:
- If you pay your household employee a salary, you should have already entered the amount in the Set Up window. Follow the above directions for paying your household employee an hourly wage, but just ignore the steps related to entering regular and OT hours.

How do I print a pay stub?
- First, choose a payroll transaction by scrolling to it using the vertical scroll bar on the pay check image or navigation arrows on the toolbar. Usually, you will want to print the current transaction, which automatically appears after calculating the pay check;
- If you haven't done so already, choose a "Pay Stub" format by clicking on preferences in the "File" menu; and
- Click the "Print Stub" button at the lower right.

How do I modify a previously entered payroll transaction?
- The edit function is useful for adding or changing check numbers and annotations to previously made transactions. First, choose a payroll transaction by scrolling to it using the vertical scroll bar on the pay check image or the navigation arrows on the tool bar. Make the desired changes to the check number or note fields and then click the "Update" button at the lower right. All changes will be automatically saved.
- To preserve the integrity of your payroll information, NannyPay does not permit you to make changes to previous calculations. If it did, changes made to earlier transactions may affect the year-to-date calculations for later payments, and your records would no longer agree with those of your employee. If you want to correct an error made in an earlier payroll transaction, you must do so by making adjustments to the current pay check.

How do I delete a previously entered payroll transaction?
- To delete a payroll transaction, choose a transaction by scrolling to it using the vertical scroll bar on the check image or the navigation arrows on the tool bar. Then click the "Delete" button at the lower right. After the prompt, the transaction will be deleted.
- Use this feature with CAUTION! Changes made to earlier transactions will effect the year-to-date calculations for later payments, and your records will no longer agree with those of your employee. If you want to correct an error made in an earlier payroll transaction, the better approach is to make adjustments to the current pay check.

How do I enter a non-taxable deduction?
- Enter the amount you want to deduct as a negative number in the "Adjustments to Gross Pay" box. When you calculate withholding, NannyPay will subtract that amount from gross pay before it calculates taxes. For example, a common non-taxable deduction is a contribution to a 401(k) plan.

How do I export payroll transactions to Quicken 2004 (or earlier)?
- In the Payroll Check Screen, scroll to the payroll transaction you want to export. Under the "File" menu, select "QIF Export", name your file, and click "Save".
- To export multiple transactions, navigate to the Payroll Register Screen and in the "Current" register, select the transactions you want to export. Then, under the "File" menu, select "QIF Export", name your file, and click "Save".
- Please not that Intuit Corp. discontinued support for QIF data export/import starting with Quicken 2005.

How do I Print a Form W-2 or Form W-3?
- Start by clicking the desired form under the "Forms" menu.
- Modify or add data to the form image by editing the figures as you would in a spread sheet or word processor.
- Do a test print by placing a blank sheet of paper in your printer and click the "Test Print" button. After the test page has printed, hold it against your blank, pre-printed form. If the numbers do not properly fall within the pre-printed boxes, you will need to make an alignment adjustment using the horizontal and vertical alignment controls found at the bottom of the forms window.
- When you are satisfied that the printed output is properly aligned with the pre-printed form, place your forms in the printer and click the "Print" button.

How do I stop the scrolling reminder message?
- Click on the scrolling status bar at the bottom of the window and the scrolling will stop. To disable scrolling of the reminder, click on the "alarm clock" icon on the NannyPay tool bar and when the reminder window appears uncheck the reminders you wish to disable.
